Article: Police And Human Rights In Anambra State

By Comrade Aloysius Attah

In the police circle, being posted to Anambra State to serve in any division especially within the urban areas is a big scramble. It is a public knowledge that some police officers who believe in the efficacy of prayers embark on several months of fasting and prayer to be posted here and also to remain here in perpetuity unless on promotion to bigger ranks among the superior officers. The story is the same among those who believe in charms and deadly concoctions as they also travel far and wide to prepare the charms or fortify themselves that nobody will remember them for posting outside the state.

News Release: Credibility & Security Challenges Facing The National Register Of Voters & The 2015 General Elections In Nigeria

Elections are credible when they are premised on quantitative and qualitative National Register of Voters. The quantitative nature of the National Register of Voters fundamentally means a demographic and electoral arrangement whereby as many as grown up citizens notwithstanding their sex, tribe, religion or socio-economic status; particularly the active segment of the general population (18 to 65 years) are captured and documented using manual and ICT applications for the purpose of voting and electing their representatives in a general election in Nigeria or any part thereof on the basis of free representative democracy.

Article: Imo State And Biko Haram (Part 1)

Governor Okorocha of Imo State

By Kenneth Uwadi

A look at the socio-political and economic environment in Imo State today reveals a horrifying picture. There is massive corruption, staggering poverty, unemployment, poor state of education due to lack of funds for schools, deteriorating infrastructures and general degree of hopelessness among the youths who feel very disappointed and let down by Governor Rochas Okorocha. Dr Herbert Nwankwo once said that in Nigeria's North there is BOKO HARAM but in Imo State there is BIKO HARAM ( those who kidnap people and powers) and use it to terrorize others.

Article: How They Killed Imo State Oil Producing Area Development Commission (ISOPADEC)

By Kenneth Uwadi

I made a telling revelation that the sum of 1 billion naira belonging to pensioners in the 27 LGA’s of Imo State was "squandered" by Sir Jude Ejiogu the current Chief of Staff to the Governor of Imo State. Ejiogu squandered this money when he was the Chairman of Imo State Local Government Service Commission. I lamented the "squandering of the significant sum of 1 billion naira and another 3 billion naira looted by the Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly Mr Benjamin Uwajumogu. I cried out because most Imolites but especially the poor continue to suffer the effect of failing public health and education system as well as decrepit infrastructure and battered institutions. I highlighted what I see as the dawn of naked impunity in Imo State.

Article: Why Imo State Government Is Keeping Activist Samuelson Iwuoha In Jail

 Activist Samuelson Iwuoha

By Kenneth Uwadi

Wherever And whenever there is death, flesh also becomes visible; and if one observes closely too, some vultures must be lurking around the corner to feast on the flesh. Indeed, vultures are evil birds; if not how could one possibly explain away the fact that they are always available, and are at their best, nodding their ugly heads in sadistic happiness, only when the news is about death and the resultant availability of flesh? No sane human being deliberately fraternizes with them unless that person too is evil. But vultures are not the real focus of this write up; but much more seriously, this article is aimed at drawing out some striking similarities between the evil bird of prey, the vulture and the current evil men we have in Imo State that are holding the position of Governor of Imo and Speaker of Imo House of Assembly.

Emeka Ihedioha

The Youths Against Human Rights Violation And Corrupt Practices ( YAHVCP )  wish to state it here that It is a fact that corruption is a big social problem militating against the development of the economy and the welfare of the citizens. According to a World Bank estimate, over $400billion have been looted by capitalist politicians and their contractor allies from the nation’s wealth in the past 4 decades. There is no doubt that if these looted resources are made available and judiciously used, the economy and the living standard of the people will not be as deplorable as they are at the moment.

Article: Senator David Mark Is A Political Ebola

Senator David Mark

By SKC Ogbonnia, Ph.D

The prevailing pattern where state governors dictate who assume positions of power in Nigeria is ruining the nation’s nascent democracy and must be confronted head on.  But a recent threat by a brigade of PDP senators to impeach President Goodluck Jonathan or frustrate his policies simply because of a fear of being denied automatic return ticket to the National Assembly is an impunity gone too far. Not only is this Senate the most inept in national memory, its knack for despotism revolves around no other person than General David Mark (rtd)—a henchman infamous for crippling any system he passes through—and should go away.

Article: Africa, A Continent Of Prophets?

By Mario Giro

9 March 2014:  Live on Emmanuel TV the controversial Pentecostal “prophet” from Nigeria T.B. Joshua is working a miracle. In front of the usual audience of thousands of people in his Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN) of Lagos, he discovers a young man in the audience – says Joshua – that was sent by Boko Haram to place a bomb in his church. Mustafa, as his name is called, falls on the ground and vomits something, while the prophet is over him, pushes him, and cries to Satan to come out of him. The man gets up, makes it a few meters towards the exit as if to escape, then falls. Joshua comes close to him and continues shouting. The scene repeats itself several times for many minutes until the exhausted man lifts up his hands and says that he feels better, that Satan left him. “He is free in the name of Jesus”, says the prophet. Loud contemporary music plays in the background for the event, with a play of lights of many great reflectors in the room. Quickly, the able assistants of T.B. Joshua take away the supposed Boko Haram member while the public applauds, singing praises to God who once again has worked through the “prophet”.
